RE: "gravity tractor"
3D visualisation of an asteroid before it hit the Earth as devised by Queen's Astrophysics Research Centre astronomers
A team of British scientists are developing plans for a spacecraft that could stop large asteroids from destroying the Earth.
The 10 tonne "gravity tractor" would deflect any orbiting rocks years before any potential collision could happen.
The device, which would rely on the force of gravity, is being developed by Stevenage space company, EADS Atrium.

1 Kings
Chapter 10,
18
The king also had a large ivory throne made, and overlaid it with refined gold.
19
The throne had six steps, a back with a round top, and an arm on each side of the seat. Next to each arm stood a lion;
20
and twelve other lions stood on the steps, two to a step, one on either side of each step. Nothing like this was produced in any other kingdom.

A disturbing FSB report delivered to Prime Minister Putin yesterday states that a “cabal” consisting of some of the most powerful people and corporations in the United States are behind the deadly rampage which occurred in the US city of Pittsburg, where three women were killed, and nine wounded, in a massacre blamed on an “anti-social, woman hating” man named George Sodini [photo top left].
However, according to these FSB reports, the depiction by the US propaganda media of George Sodini as “anti-social and woman hating” could not be “further from the truth” in describing what Russian Intelligence files profile as “one of the most important financial computer wizards” who was so “deeply entrenched” in the current Global banking collapse, and which many FSB experts believe it was his, Sodini’s, computer program that has, in fact, engineered the theft of Trillions of Dollars in what was once the American peoples wealth.

And being at the forefront of mind control research has been very lucrative to Carnegie Mellon University too, and who in just the past 8 years alone has received over $300 Million in US Military and Intelligence Agency contracts, the majority of them, of course, classified.

According to these FSB reports, however, Sodini’s employer K&L Gates is not just a law firm, but is the “main conduit” through which nearly every American politician must pass before they are “allowed” to be elected, including the President of the United States

The Quadrantid meteor shower is one of the year's best, producing more than 100 meteors per hour from a radiant near the North Star. This year the shower peaks on Jan. 3rd. The timing favors observers in western North America and Across the Pacific Ocean. The best time to look: during the dark hours before sunrise on Saturday morning.

Arab journalists attend Arab foreign ministers emergency meeting in Cairo, Egypt, Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2008, to discuss the situation in Gaza following the Israeli air strikes which killed more than 350 people. Israel has rejected mounting international pressure to suspend its devastating air offensive against Palestinian militants in the Gaza Strip, with a casualty toll that Gaza officials now put at 390 dead and some 1,600 wounded.

"Here is one last present from the 'Old' Year!" says Balatskiy. "I took the picture using my Canon 40D."

Thumb drives are reportedly banned within the U.S. Department of Defense. The ban comes after they were identified as the most likely point of compromise that transferred what has been termed a “global virus” according to Pentagon spokesman Bryan Whitman.

SOLAR ACTIVITY: For the third day in a row, a massive prominence is dancing along the sun's northeastern limb. The Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO) has been monitoring the action since Christmas Eve:

This is a polar crown prominence--a cloud of hot plasma held aloft by solar magnetic fields. Nuclear engineers are interested in its complicated motions. How the sun's magnetic field contains plasma and makes it move is not fully understood, but engineers know they'd like to do the same thing in fusion reactors on Earth. Further studies of the sun may eventually yield the secrets of plasma control.
Meanwhile, consider it an entertaining mystery. Readers, if you have a solar telescope, today is a good day to enjoy the show.

What is this astronomer tracking through the light-polluted skies of Hong Kong? The answer lies in the eyepiece.

It's the International Space Station flying over the south coast of China on Nov. 13th. "The ISS was moving so fast, I had to unlock the mount and guide my telescope by hand," says photographer Wah!. He recorded the action using a Canon 450D and a fisheye lens. "I hope you like the animation of me."
The next time ISS flies over Hong Kong, it won't be alone. Space shuttle Endeavour is scheduled to blast off from Kennedy Space Center on Nov. 14th for a weekend rendezvous with the space station. Endeavour will deliver a toilet, sleeping quarters, a waste recycling system and other items needed to expand the station's crew from three to six in the spring of 2009. The eyepiece of that telescope is about to get crowded. Be alert for flybys.
